Swan River
We have been studying the Swan River in Geography and History. We have learnt heaps of amazing facts about our River.
Recently my family and I took a fabulous trip around the Swan River.
We parked the car in the free parking spots on Mill Point Rd in South Perth. The free spots are down the Narrows Bridge end. Then we walked along the river shore to the Mends Street Jetty. We then caught the ferry across to Elizabeth Quay. It’s about a 7 minute ride. The ferry stops right inside Elizabeth Quay! We then took a 10 min walk around the Quay. The children’s water playground is fantastic. The Duyfken Replica is on display at the moment – it’s amazing, and opposite that is a fantastic discovery playground for the kids to play in. We then visited the Bell Tower. We have been discussing where the bells inside came from in class. When you walk over the bridge, you can see Kings Park. We have been talking about how Kings Park, the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay got their names in class. While still on the walking bridge, we could see the Narrows Bridge. My family and I enjoyed a Gusto ice cream. Yum!! After that we caught the ferry back to the Mends St Jetty. We love doing this trip at night too, the lights are amazing.
Next time you're in the classroom come and check out our 'Swan River' on the windows.

Times Tables
Each of the children have been given a times table to practise and
master. I will be looking for them to be
able to answer random times table sums not just to recite the times table in
order.
ie 10 x 10 = 100, 3 x 10 = 30, 7
x 10 = 70.
Everyone will be required to accurately answer a set of random times
tables sums on their allocated times table, 5 times before they can move onto
the next times table.
Nut Allergies
Just a reminder that there are students
in our class who have severe nut allergies. Please keep this in mind when
packing your child’s lunch and recess. Thank you

Science
Here's what we did with the information the children gathered about how they use water in their own homes. We graphed the information and found that only one family uses water for a fish tank while many families use water to bath or shower (yeah!!) and to water the plants in their garden.
Student Councillors
Congratulations to our newly elected Student Councillors for Semester One 2017. I know that Leah and Lachlan will do a great job representing our class. We have had our first class meeting and Leah and Lachlan will present our agenda items to the Council next Thursday.
