Problem Solving strategy

VCOP Writing

We are slowly going through the procedure for writing a persuasive argument.  The children are learning to use a short, sharp, topic specific title with capital letters.  They follow this with a rhetorical question to make the reader wonder about what they will write about.  Then they write their opinion statement followed by a preview sentence which includes 3 reasons for our argument.  That is just the introduction!  We have lots of work ahead of us but I’m really pleased with the writing the children have done so far.  Their work has been displayed in the Block 4 wet area or at the back of our classroom.  Come and have a read.  You'll be really impressed.

Bossy 'e'

We have been learning some spelling rules related to words with split diagraphs.  For example, bone, rose, bite, skate etc These are the spelling rules we have learnt so far.

e goes away when ing comes to stay
e goes away when ed comes to stay

e goes away when y comes to stay

Science - Water

We are currently studying a unit on water.  We have discussed what we know about water with some very interesting responses.  These are displayed on the classroom window.  Please come and have a look some time.
Thank you to those children who brought something from home that reminds them of water.  These are displayed on the classroom window.

We continue our study of water by looking at sources of water around our school.

Place Value

In Maths we have been looking at Place Value.  We began by revising 100’s, 10’s and ones. Moving on to using the 100’s, 10’s and ones columns to do simple addition sums.

400 + 80+ 2 = 482.  Here's some examples we did to display on our board at the back of the classroom.
