Studyladder

What a great term we have had.

Studyladder
Don’t forget to utilise the free online program, Studyladder. I know many of the children are enjoying using this consolidation tool on a regular basis.

Wishing you all a magnificent holiday.  Have a great rest ready for action in Term 3!

Geography

Our excursion was a huge success and proved to be a very beneficial learning experience for the children. I was most impressed with their designs of the Bell Tower. I think we might have some budding architects amongst us. The children have learnt so much about the Swan River. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning about the continents in the last few weeks. I hope the children have shared the songs that we have learnt. Very catchy.

The children picked a country each to research this term. They had to use a variety of methods to gather information about their country. They used travel magazines, ipads, books from the library, document cards and pictures to collect information. Then they had to choose a method of sharing their information with the class. I was amazed at the variety of presentations. We had puppet shows, talks, videos, posters and models. The children did a fabulous job. Enjoy some of photos of a selection of the posters that were created.

We will be beginning some study on History next term.

Science

We are wrapping up our unit on Living Things this term. I wouldn’t call our bean planting a ‘huge’ success but we had enough plants growing to observe and make notes on growth.
We are eagerly waiting for our mealworms to lay eggs.  Daily watching for some tiny worms to hatch.
Thank you for your support during Super Scientist week.  Your children did some great experiments and everyone participated enthusiastically.

English

I was so pleased with how the children’s narrative writing improved at the beginning of this term. They have really worked hard. We have moved onto persuasive writing and again, I am really pleased with their progress.
Keep up the reading at home and I encourage the children to complete the small practice exercise sent home each week. These consolidate the English concepts we have covered that week in class. Study ladder is another great tool for the children to practice their skills in English.

Maths

We’ve had so much fun completing some hands on activities in Maths. We have used blocks to measure windows, pencils and desks. We’ve even measured and compared the length of giants feet!
Fractions has been a fun subject too. We’ve ‘made’ pizzas, choosing our own toppings to add to different fractions of the pizza. Yum!  We also made ‘Fractionpillars’, cute little caterpillars that show fractions using colour. These are displayed on our wall at the back of the classroom so please come in some time and get your child to explain them too you.
